Shrikhand is a big, and bold serif display genre developed from discussions with colleagues about how good a Gujarati script looks when it’s free to be as curved and expressive as possible. Shrikhand is the culmination of three years of absorbing the colorful and vibrant hand-drawn lettering that can be seen on the streets of Gujarat. During this time India had a profound influence on his design philosophy and worldview. In the three or four years leading up to the initial development of this font in June 2015, Johnny lived in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, working for Indian Type Foundry.

The flowing exterior lines of the font create strong, smooth shapes, making Shrikhand a very resilient font. Shrikhand is the name of a particularly favorite sweet and creamy Gujarati dessert by designer Johnny Pinhorn. The font was designed by Jonny Pinhorn and inspired by the famous Cooper Black. Shrikhand Font is an ultra-bold serif type intended for display use.
