For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at:

Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e., SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g., VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. Please note that the implementation of mobile technology applications that operate on Mobile Operating Systems must be reviewed and approved by the Mobile Technology and Endpoint Security Engineering Team: This entry covers the Desktop Edition of this technology and not any mobile versions.

This technology can authenticate users to a number of desktop, network, and productivity applications. More information on the proper use of the TRM can be found on theĪctivClient enables organizations to protect access to their network, systems and cloud-based applications to mitigate risks of data breaches. It's a really frustrating and unhelpful error message.Technologies must be operated and maintained in accordance with Federal and Department security and If not, I think it's $35 to purchase a copy.

Look on for some links (I had access to AKO). If you are a DoD contractor you might be able to get ActivClient for free. I have seen the SSL error once since installing, but an immediate reconnect fixed it. I am not sure what it did, but it stopped that stupid error from popping up. The VPN client continued to work fine with the new CAC. I tried upgrading the Horizon client, several registry entries.

Previously I was using the Windows built-in smart card support and it was fine, no issues with using my CAC for VPN or the Horizon client. Even though I had all the intermediate and root CA certs loaded, I started getting the "An SSL error has occurred" message. This was all working fine up until I had my CAC renewed a week ago. I VPN to the work network and then use Horizon client to get a desktop. I have a Windows 10 VM I dedicate to work.
